    On the third march was the only time they where successful. That march they where protected by the court. On the third march they left Selma with 3,200 and when they got to Montgomery they had 25,000 marchers.
    The march lasted about 5 days, began on March 21, 1965. The march route was 54 miles long it was on U.S route 80, that route is know as the Jefferson Davis Highway. The march was protected by the Alabama National Guard, the U.S army, some FBI agents.
